Ava Fine Chartered FCIPD MBACP

Ava is a highly experienced organisational and individual counsellor, trainer and consultant, specialising in stress management, the prevention of bullying and harassment in the workplace, mediation and counselling skills training.

Her background in Human Resources in both the NHS and local government, her former role as Employee Welfare Adviser to a national rail company and nine years consultancy experience, working with staff at all levels in many public and private sector organisations, has given Ava an unrivalled knowledge of different workplace settings and the effectiveness of various interventions.

A lay member of the Employment Tribunal, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a former visiting tutor at the University of Bristol, Ava is a media commentator and conference speaker.

John Griffiths B.Ed (Hons) M.Sc. FRSH

John has 20 years high-level experience in the development and implementation of public and workplace health promotion programmes.

He has played significant roles within the World Health Organisation, Heartbeat Wales and Health Promotion Wales. He helped develop the European Network for Workplace Health Promotion and latterly has been rapporteur and facilitator for the influential Enterprise for Health Network.

John, a leading international expert on tobacco control, has chaired the UK No Smoking Day Committee. He is also an experienced trainer, a guest lecturer at several universities and a regular keynote speaker. He has contributed to TV documentary programmes on tobacco and alcohol and is an experienced radio and TV broadcaster.

Hayley Maggs BA (Hons)

Hayley graduated from University of Wales, Swansea with an honours degree in History. She is currently nearing completion of a Masters degree in Human Resource Management, which has provided her with a wide range of HR issues in a variety of organisational contexts. Hayley has experience of undertaking the analysis of stress audits and aided the facilitation of focus groups. Hayley has active involvement in the organisations key projects including the Corporate Health Standard and the Promoting Wellbeing@Work study.

Caroline Adams BSc, Chartered MCIPD, Dip Couns.

A graduate in Occupational Psychology, Caroline began a career in Personnel Management, at both plant and corporate level, with a multi-national packaging, printing and paper-making company. She later became Chief Personnel Officer and member of the Management Team for a local authority in eastern England.

Having obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling – Organisational Settings at the University of Bristol, Caroline is currently an Organisational Counsellor for a Police Authority in the South West. This includes working with employees who are experiencing work-related problems as well as stress management, psychological support, group work and training.

Caroline also provides counselling and various specialist support services to several other organisations, including Newport City Council, where her role includes incident debriefing with one of the Council’s teams of Community Wardens.

Warr Communications

Nick Warr MCIPR, of Warr Communications has had 27years experience as a Public Relations professional specialising in all forms of external and internal communications, including crisis management.

A former journalist, Nick headed a PR team covering a large part of Britain for a national energy company, a role which included shaping communications plans, managing media and community relations and high-level stakeholder engagement. He was also a lead spokesperson on radio and television.

Warr Communications provides PR services to public and private sector clients and is the retained consultancy with Wales’ leading business advice company, which provides specialist support to more than 500 new-start businesses under Welsh Assembly Government programmes.

Nick also produces regular newsletters for The Corporate Standard initiative (see previous pages) and Warr Communications also provides editorial services to various European organisations for workplace health publications.
